About Me

Hello Friends!

I'm Katelynn, and I call Des Moines, Iowa, home. My journey into birth work began right here, where I discovered my passion for supporting birthing individuals through their pregnancy and labor experiences. From a young age, I was immersed in the birthing world, witnessing the adventure that birthing women go through. I was born at home and present for the births of all three of my younger sisters. These early experiences ignited a deep love for the entire birthing process.

However, more recently, when I had the privilege of being a doula for my cousin during her labor, my passion for this work truly blossomed. Witnessing firsthand the transformative power of a supportive birth environment reinforced my belief in the importance of autonomy for birthing individuals. I became acutely aware of the profound impact a compassionate and empowering midwife or doula can have on the birthing journey. After this experience, I eagerly pursued formal training, completing a doula course to deepen my knowledge and skills. From that moment on, I knew I had found my calling.

Every birth I attend reaffirms my belief that the birth world is where I belong. Witnessing the strength, resilience, and sheer beauty of the birthing process fills me with awe and gratitude. It's a privilege to support birthing individuals and their partners during such a transformative time in their lives.

Currently, I'm pursuing my studies at the Midwives College of Utah while also serving as a doula in the Des Moines metro area. My goal is to bring greater awareness of and respect for autonomy in the birthing process to my community.

Join me on this journey as we work towards creating a more supportive and empowering birthing experience for all.
