ABOUT ME
Hey, I’m Katelynn. Many times childbirth seems overwhelming and scary. As a labor doula, it is my goal to work with you, support you, and empower you through the adventure that we call childbirth.
I am fairly new to the doula world but I have loved the entire pregnancy and birth process since I was a tiny toddler. I was born at home and was present for all 3 of my younger sisters’ births. Even at a young age, I loved being a part of the birthing atmosphere. During high school, I took nurse aide courses and graduated as a C.N.A. Directly following graduation, I began nursing classes at Mercy College of Health Science and I’m well on my way to becoming an R.N. My end goal is to eventually become a midwife and serve our community in that capacity. More recently, I had the honor of assisting my cousin during the labor & birth of her daughter. It was during that event that I found a new, deep and profound passion for caring for the laboring mother and her partner. I have attended professional doula classes and am working towards becoming certified. I reside in Des Moines & when I’m not studying for my nursing classes, I love to travel with my family, go kayaking, and read books. I’m looking forward to getting to know you & helping you at your birth.
